Before we get to the week ahead, I've got some Hub news! Last month, 3 Hub members took 480 climate actions and sent 399 messages to decision-makers. WOW!! That is worth a repeat: a small handful of committed readers made FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY actions to protect democracy. Thank you and job well done! I love having tangible results, I bet you do too, so here is a snapshot of the report Climate Action Now sent over.

A few other updates. The event calendar now features a map, so you can visualize actions near you. If you are on social media, follow the Hub everywhere we post via our Linktree. Now, to the week ahead: statewide Weekend of Action canvasses and phone banks, campaign office openings with Governor Hobbs, coffee with Kris Mayes in Yuma, and a July 25 National Day of Action demanding justice for two men killed by ICE agents this month. Here's what your week looks like.

Protect Education Petition

Protests & Resistance

Visibility actions continue across the state this week: weekday rush-hour rallies in the Phoenix metro and weekend protests in CD8.

July 24 | Honk and Wave | MoveOn Scottsdale Cohort | 8:00 AM | Scottsdale. The AZ-01 MoveOn cohort holds a morning honk and wave against the administration's gutting of government services on behalf of billionaire donors.

July 25 | Stand Up CD 8 | Desert Progressives Indivisible | 8:00 AM | Phoenix. A peaceful, high-visibility protest calling out Rep. Abe Hamadeh for hiding from constituents behind closed-door donor events. Part of the multi-site Step Up CD-8 effort.

Immigration

After ICE agents killed two men in separate shootings this month, July 25 will be a National Day of Action. Arizona communities are holding vigils and protests all week leading up to it.

July 23 | Immigrant Justice Summer Call 2 | Indivisible | 5:00 PM AZ time | Virtual. Second call in the Immigrant Justice Summer training series, part of Indivisible's Dismantling Detention campaign, on organizing when ICE comes to your community.

July 24 | Killed by ICE Candlelight Vigil | Indivisible VOC Bell Rock Resistance | 6:00 PM | Sedona. A candlelight vigil and anti-ICE protest at the Jacks Canyon Roundabout in the Village of Oak Creek, kicking off a weekend of actions nationwide.

July 25 | National Day of Action: Justice for Araujo & Guerrero | Disappeared in America | 9:00 AM | Mesa. Demand justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero, an end to ICE deportation flights out of Mesa Gateway Airport, and closure of the Arizona Removal Operations Coordination Center.

Elections & Candidates

Statewide candidates are on the road this week, with meet-and-greets and new campaign offices opening around the state.

July 22 | Meet and Greet: Pratte and Hill for Corporation Commission | Coconino County Democratic Party | 1:00 PM | Flagstaff. Meet Clara Pratte and Jonathon Hill, the Democrats running for the Arizona Corporation Commission, and learn how they plan to lower utility bills and invest in clean energy.

July 24 | Coffee with Kris Mayes | Yuma County Democratic Party | 8:30 AM | Yuma. Attorney General Kris Mayes stops by a local coffee house for a casual morning meet-and-greet. No formal program — swing by for five minutes or fifty.

July 24 | Scottsdale Office Opening with Governor Hobbs | Copper State Victory | 5:00 PM | Scottsdale. Celebrate the grand opening of Copper State Victory's Scottsdale campaign office with Governor Katie Hobbs and learn how to plug in. Offices also open this week in Prescott, Yuma, and Sierra Vista — see the calendar.

Mutual Aid & Community

Saturday is a good day to show up for your neighbors, no politics required.

July 25 | Community Clean-Up | LD 11 South Mountain Democrats | 9:00 AM | Phoenix. A morning of community service at El Prado Park to help keep South Phoenix clean and welcoming. All ages welcome.

July 25 | The Colors of Kindness | AZ AANHPI | 4:00 PM | Tempe. An interactive children's book reveal and AANHPI culture workshop featuring The Colors of Kindness, written and illustrated by AZ AANHPI for Equity's Youth Fellowship.

July 25 | Food Drive | Copper State Victory | 6:00 PM | Tempe. Drop off non-perishable food in South Tempe. Groceries still cost too much, and this drive puts food directly into the community.

Canvassing & Phone Banking

The 100 Days Out Weekend of Action means knocking doors and making calls all over the state, with training provided for first-timers at nearly every shift.

July 25 | Hold Rep. Eli Crane Accountable: Deep Canvassing Launch | We The Fighters | 9:30 AM | Flagstaff. Go door-to-door in CD2 to talk with neighbors about cuts to healthcare and food assistance after Rep. Crane's vote for the budget bill. No experience necessary.

July 25 | LD16 Canvass in Maricopa | LD16 Democrats | 9:00 AM | Maricopa. Weekly canvass with State House candidate Julia Romero Gusse. Literature, water, and lists provided, plus training for anyone new.

July 25 | Call Voters in CD1 with Ground Truth | Swing Left | 1:00 PM | Phoenix. A phone bank built on real, listening-first conversations with all types of voters — part of Swing Left's new Ground Truth program.

Tell Sen. Gallego to Oppose the CLARITY Act. The CLARITY Act is billed as crypto regulation but protects the billionaires and bad actors driving crypto chaos. Sen. Ruben Gallego has not yet disavowed the bill.
