Welcome to Arizona Advocacy Hub
May Day is coming up (May 1) and Arizona will be RALLYING! We've got gatherings and protests all over from Tempe to beautiful Patagonia. And because Arizona activists can't be outdone, the week is still packed with training sessions, town halls, protests, and mutual aid opportunities. Here's everything happening in your corner of Arizona, organized by issue area.
What's Happening This Week
Here’s what’s coming up across Arizona in the days ahead organized by issue area and date so you can quickly find what fits your schedule.
Civic Engagement & Democracy

April 28 | Powerful Public Comment Training | Public School Strong / HEAL to Win | 10:00 AM MT | Online. A practical training on delivering effective public comment to policymakers and school district administrators. You'll leave with tools for speaking confidently at school board meetings or rallies in support of fully funded public schools.
April 28 | Civics Series: Local Government | Civic Engagement Beyond Voting | 6:30 PM | Virtual. CEBV's ongoing civics training series covers how city and county government actually works — school boards, city council, boards and commissions, and the Board of Supervisors — and what your role is in making change. Virtual, with plenty of time for questions. Free; organizers ask that you consider a $5–$10 donation after registering to keep trainings accessible.
April 29 | Labor 2026 MALF Blitz: Talk to Union Members | Arizona AFL-CIO | 4:00 PM | Phoenix. The AFL-CIO is launching a Maricopa Area Labor Federation canvassing blitz ahead of 2026 — phone calls, door knocking, and member-to-member conversations. The premise is straightforward: too many union voices went unheard in 2024, and this program is about making sure that doesn't happen again. Training and support provided. Runs for additional dates beyond April 29.
April 30 | Sterbinsky for Congress Town Hall | Sterbinsky for Congress | 6:00 PM | Georgia T. Lord Library, Goodyear. Democratic candidate Dani Sterbinsky, running to unseat Rep. Paul Gosar in AZ Congressional District 9, is hosting a town hall for constituents. Bring your questions, concerns, and suggestions.
May 2 | AZNOW 2026 State Conference | AZ NOW (National Organization for Women) | 10:00 AM–3:00 PM | UFCW Local 99, 2401 N. Central Ave., Phoenix. Arizona NOW's annual state conference features keynote speakers, World Café discussions, a Women of Courage panel, and a community action benefiting Pilgrim Rest Foundation. $20 in-person, $10 online, or pay what you can.
May 2 | Sudanese Community: Get to Know Your Elected Officials | Worker Power | 3:30 PM | Virtual. Worker Power is bringing together the Sudanese community with Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, State Rep. Analise Ortiz, and Glendale City Councilmember Lupe Conchas for a direct conversation about affordability, access to resources, and issues affecting working families. Food provided.
May Day — May 1

May 1 | Tempe May Day: Workers Over Billionaires | Tempe Rising Indivisible & May Day | 7:00 AM | Cole Park Pedestrian Bridge, Tempe. Tempe Rising Indivisible kicks off May Day with a demonstration on the pedestrian bridge, followed by visits to Local Love businesses. Demands: tax the rich, end ICE operations, expand democracy. Nonviolent — no weapons of any kind.
May 1 | Find a May Day Action Near You | May Day Strong | Various times | Statewide + National. May Day Strong is organizing a national day of economic disruption — no work, no school, no shopping where possible — with rallies and nonviolent actions across Arizona and the country. The ask is to do what you can. Use the map to find what's happening closest to you.
Immigration & ICE Resistance

May 2 | ICE Out of Home Depot — Phoenix | National Day Laborer Organizing Network | 9:00 AM | Home Depot, 36th & Thomas, Phoenix. ICE agents have been targeting workers at and around the Home Depot on 36th and Thomas — including a recent raid at this specific store. NDLON is calling people to demand that Home Depot prevent enforcement operations on its property, restore safety for all customers and workers, and publicly condemn the raids. The company has not taken public action.
Protests & Accountability
May 2 | Weekly Protest Outside Ciscomani's Office | LD 18 Dems | 8:00–11:00 AM | Tucson. LD18 Dems and Indivisible Tucson's UnSeat Ciscomani team are outside Rep. Juan Ciscomani's office every Saturday morning. Signs, chairs, a letter-writing station, and educational materials are provided. You can write a letter and deliver it to his office in person. Quick Action Alerts
These actions are timely, high-impact, and quick.
- Stop HB2873 — Protect Voter Referendum Rights: The legislature is fast-tracking a bill that lets developers withdraw referendum petitions after filing — retroactively to December 31, 2025. It appears written to kill a pending voter referendum opposing a data center in Marana. Two steps: (1) call your AZ House rep and tell them to vote no on HB2873; (2) send a veto letter to Governor Hobbs.
- 424,000 Arizonans Cut from SNAP — Highest Rate in the Nation: Arizona removed 424,000 people from SNAP eligibility, including 180,000 children. That's a 47% cut — the highest in the nation. Florida is second at 16%. Contact your AZ state legislators and demand they push back on DES and oppose further federal SNAP rollbacks. Background + take action | Find your legislator
- Enforce Prop 211 - Dark Money Accountability: 7 community members attended a recent oversight meeting and called out TPUSA for violating prop 211. 72.3% of Arizona voters passed Prop 211 to expose dark money but Turning Point USA has largely ignored it, spending $10 million trying to influence the SRP election. With November approaching we must stay vigilant, enforcement is the next front. Read up and make your voice heard.
- Protect Education Act Petition — 256,000 Signatures Needed by July 2: The voucher accountability petition has more than 150,000 signatures — more than halfway to the ~256,000 needed for the November 2026 ballot. Ten weekends remain before the July 2 deadline. Sign and find a collection event near you.
Thanks for being here and I'll see you next week!
