Sunburnt & Stubborn: Arizona's Weekly Activism Roundup | May 25-31, 2026
Welcome to Arizona Advocacy Hub! Your weekly roundup of civic events, action alerts, and ways to get involved across Arizona.
Good news in the action alerts this week: constituent pressure cracked the Republican Senate caucus and stalled the ICE and Border Patrol funding bill. Congress is in recess until June 1, but the bill will come back. Your calls made a difference so keep making them, our reps are back at their local offices.
Two things to flag for this week's events: the La Osa Energy Center (a proposed 3,385-acre data center complex with two on-site gas plants in Pinal County) goes before the Board of Supervisors on May 27. And if you want to make calls rather than knock doors, a coalition of Arizona Gen Z organizations is hosting a voter registration phone bank party on May 28.
Browse the events below, find what fits, and check the action alerts before you close the tab. Everything is linked.

QUICK ACTION ALERTS
- Call your Republican rep or senator NOW: Vote no on the ICE and Border Patrol funding bill. The ICE and Border Patrol funding bill stalled in the Senate this week after constituent pressure cracked the GOP caucus — public outrage over Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund for family and allies helped collapse the effort. Congress is now in recess until June 1, but the bill will come back. Call your Republican senator and representative before they return. With members in their home districts this weekend, now is also the time to show up at a district office.
- Tell Congress: Vote NO on the Sharri Briley Act — don't cut veterans' home loans. The Sharri Briley Act, tucked into the Republican budget reconciliation bill, would effectively end the funding mechanism that makes VA zero-down-payment mortgages possible — a benefit veterans earned through military service. Common Defense is calling on all members of Congress to reject any reconciliation package that balances the budget on the backs of veterans.
Thanks for being here and I'll see you next week, patriots!
